Here at Paxton Hall Care Home, we have introduced Flower Arranging to the Activities Calendar this month and this morning was our first session.
We purchased 3 bunches of flowers which included green & yellow Chrysanthemums, Lilies, Gerberas & Iris’s which were the perfect selection with bright colours giving the ‘wow’ factor for residents.
Residents were given a couple of jars each to fill with flowers of their own choosing and colours they liked. We separated the flowers from the bunches and measured each flower against the jars so we knew how much to cut off.
Everyone who took part thoroughly enjoyed their morning and commented on how wonderful the flowers smelt, how beautiful and bright they were and what a difference fresh flowers make to the dining room. Many of the flowers brought back fond memories for the ladies and sparked great conversation. We had a lovely bright and fragrant morning and look forward to our next flower arranging session later in the month.
