Mental Health Matters: Understanding and Supporting Mental Health in the Elderly

mental well-being

At Paxton Hall, we’re all about caring for the whole person, body and mind. We recognise that mental well-being is just as important as physical health. That’s why “Nurturing the Mind” is a focus of our work. It’s about making sure everyone feels supported, understood, and cared for in every way. We’re here to create a warm and friendly place where everyone can feel at ease, both in their thoughts and in their feelings.

Understanding and Nurturing Emotional Well-being:

Ageing brings its own ups and downs in terms of our feelings. Paxton Hall is about listening, learning, and supporting each other so that everyone feels seen and heard.

1.Being there for each other: We know that getting older can bring up many different feelings. That’s why we have one-to-one sessions and group chats where everyone can talk and find a safe place to be open.

2.Keeping the mind active: We love to keep our brains engaged and happy with activities such as quiz games, memory games, bingo, and more.

3.Making friends and sharing good times: Feeling connected is very important for all of us. At Paxton Hall, there is always the opportunity to take part in activities and enjoy each other’s company so that no one feels left out.

4.Celebrating together: At Paxton Hall, we believe in the joy of shared experiences that lift spirits and strengthen our community. From festive gatherings at Burns Night and Easter to our Coffee & Cake Mornings, there’s always a reason to come together and enjoy the moment. Our PAT Dog visits and encounters with the animals at Monarch Farm bring a touch of nature therapy into the home, while the creativity flows in our craft and knitting groups. With each quiz, film morning, and special performance from entertainers such as The Piano Man or Liz, The Saxophonist, we weave happiness and connection into our daily lives, enriching the mental and emotional well-being of everyone here.

Creating a Supportive Environment:

At Paxton Hall, we create a cosy and friendly place that feels like a home from home. Our amazing team is friendly and helpful, listens, and is there for everyone. They’re very good at recognising when someone needs a bit of extra help and are quick to act.

A Haven for Mental Well-being:

At Paxton Hall, we’re all about making mental well-being a natural part of everyday life. Our aim is to make Paxton Hall feel like a warm, welcoming place where everyone can find their own slice of happiness and feel at home.
